Farmer McCocky – The Parable of the Sower
Last weekend we took 25 11-14 year olds from the church youth group away on a residential weekend. It was a great time on the theme of the Parable of the Sower from Matthew 13:1-9.
One of the activities was for the young people to film their own version of the parable and edit it on the computer. There were four groups that came up with four very different ideas. I thought I’d share this one with you as it made me laugh. They decided not to edit it much, but to show it exactly as they had filmed it. I love it!
(ps, If you don’t know the parable, read this first so the movie makes more sense)
Then Jesus used stories to teach them many things. He said: “A farmer went out to plant his seed. While he was planting, some seed fell by the road, and the birds came and ate it all up. Some seed fell on rocky ground, where there wasn’t much dirt. That seed grew very fast, because the ground was not deep. But when the sun rose, the plants dried up, because they did not have deep roots. Some other seed fell among thorny weeds, which grew and choked the good plants. Some other seed fell on good ground where it grew and produced a crop. Some plants made a hundred times more, some made sixty times more, and some made thirty times more. Let those with ears use them and listen.” Matthew 13:1-9
