So we’re back from Egypt and the photos are up on Flickr. We had a great time away and really enjoyed spending time with our friends Dominic, Claire, Rebecca, Joshua, Brian and Liz by the seaside.
Apologies if you’ve tried to comment on the blog in the past few days, access was suspended due to the huge amount of comment spam coming through. Although none of it got live on the site, I returned to a spam folder of around 17,000 comments! Things are back to normal now though.
Oh yes, and I bought a Canon EOS 400D Camera! I’ve wanted an SLR for a looong time and with the income from Dj-ing recently, felt it was finally viable. Although Tim Abbott preferred the Nikon D40x, there was a good deal on the Canon in Duty Free with an 8GB Compact Flash Card thrown in. I’m really happy with the outstanding picture quality.
Anyway, now we’re home there may actually be some interesting posts coming up soon…

If you could change one thing…

Kirsty and I spent the weekend in Cornwall, exploring the beaches and countryside and staying in a tiny tent. It was great! Part of our trip was spent at The Eden Project where we looked around the biomes, wandered the gardens and learned about the importance of plants within our world. It’s a fascinating and brilliant place that everyone should visit (although I found it a little too humanistic with its emphasis on the potential and greatness of people).
Eden currently has an interactive exhibition called ‘towards the edge’ which included lots of great creative ideas (click here for the full Flickr set).
Part of the display included thousands of tags with various questions printed on them. People were invited to write their own answers and hang them up with others on a clothes line. As I stood looking at the display, this particular tag caught my eye. Among thousands of others, it really captured my own thoughts and reminded me that God is doing His work in the unlikeliest of places.
If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?

Today is our 7th Wedding Anniversary! I can’t believe it’s been that long, where did the time go? Kirsty and I were talking earlier and it’s even been 2 years since we celebrated by going to see U2 live in Dublin.

We’re not doing much to celebrate today, just going out for a meal tonight. Here’s to another 7 years…

I love long weekends! It’s Kirsty’s birthday tomorrow and we’re heading into London later today to spend the weekend doing touristy things. We’ve booked to go see the new Antony Gormley exhibition at the hayward which I’m really excited about. I’ll try to take some pictures and post them to flickr while we’re there. We’re also planning to go to London Zoo and catch a show too, so it’ll be a lot of fun!
It’ll be the third time I’m in London this week after the Strategic Schools Work Conference at LICC, and an excellent visit to XLP on Wednesday. I had a great time hanging out with the team, heading into a school and playing football with some kids after school. Thanks to Michelle and Tim in particular for showing me around!

We’ve had a great weekend catching up with friends and chilling out. Part of our fun was heading over to Brighton to track down some of the creatively hidden exhibition 41 Places. From the site:
41 Places is a city-wide artwork of 41 true stories, installed in the place where they happened – stories of people who live, work and play in Brighton.

After wandering around for a couple of hours, we only managed to find around 13 (even using the map)!

Some people have made it a mission to find and photograph all 41. Check out the Flickr group to see the others we didn’t find!

Last night (well, this morning really) we took a small group of 12 young people to take part in the All Night Bowling event organised by the Chichester Diocese of the Church of England. Starting at midnight, around 150 young people literally threw the night away getting in as many games as possible before 6am!
It was a fantastic night and we had great fun entertaining ourselves by coming up with the craziest way to bowl a ball. Highlights included forward rolls, using heads, and spinning on the spot! Amazingly everyone stayed awake throughout and we’re all keen to go back again next year.

Team building
Originally uploaded by bobweasel.
I’m currently away at a youth retreat, my first duty as youth and schools worker for arun community church. It’s the hottest day of the year and we’re in glorious countryside doing team building activities! What a great way to start a new job!

I’ve added a couple of wordpress plugins to this site today that relate to blogging and browsing on the move.
WP-Cron works with a pop3 email account (and the built-in wordpress functions) to post any emails it recieves straight to the site. This means I can write a post on my phone and email it to my secret address, knowing that it will soon appear on my site! Handy for blogging at a youthwork conference or in church
WP-PDA is an excellent plugin that reformats wordpress pages for PDAs and mobile devices. It needs absolutely no configuration and means I can now view my blog perfectly on my Sony-Ericsson K800i while out and about (Not that I’d want to read my own blog, but you get the idea…)
Alongside the ability to email photos straight to my Flickr account, upload videos to youtube, and syncronise my Google Calendar, I can now get a lot done with my humble mobile phone!

Kirsty’s new monkey!
Originally uploaded by bobweasel.
After reading Dave and Rosie’s blog posts on the new range of PG Tips monkeys that are available, Kirsty has just run down to Sainsbury’s to get her own mini-monkey!
It’s pretty cute and is a welcome addition to our monkey collection, but we now have a lot of tea to get through…
