Informal learning Wordles

Here’s a creative use for the ‘word cloud’ site Wordle.

Miles Berry, a Headteacher in Godalming, used the data from a questionnaire asking about children’s use of technology outside school, to feed into Wordle resulting in a number of interesting images that display the children’s preferences.

In a wordle image, the clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text.

Give examples of things you have learnt using technology that are not related to school work:

Notice how prominent Games are in each image, with things like YouTube and Facebook proving popular too.

This is an interesting way to gauge the trends and preferences of young people from a text document. Does anyone have other examples?
