I have now completed my first week in my new job and it’s been fun! On Monday there was no desk or chair so we spent some time moving furniture around and I’ve been allocated a ‘hotdesk’ for when I’m hanging around (lucky I’ve retained a desk at Wickbourne too). I’ve also now ordered my shiny new macbook and am awaiting it’s arrival with great anticipation. 😀
I am very grateful for the wisdom of the church elders who have suggested that I don’t commit to anything for a time and instead research, listen and dream. Although there are a number of practical issues that require my attention, I am no longer rushing around from one thing to another trying to fit in activity after activity. Instead I can sit and enjoy – which this week included attending the 15-18’s youth group for the 1st time.
Over the next month, I plan to visit various churches and agencies to see what work they are currently doing in schools and to spark some ideas for what the church could create and deliver here. If you’d like me to come and visit, get in contact. I’ll let you know how I get on!

It was good to catch up today mate. Your thoughts and “initial” dreams are already taking shape and once they’ve been given time to mature and grow they could very well be revolutionary…well, maybe not, but you know what I mean.
In a sense you inspired me and I’m excited about the future of Slam.
hi mate. glad it’s going well so far, even though it’s early days! Sounds like a nice opportunity to take some space to reflect on what needs to be done without the pressure of having to ‘do’.
And welcome to the mac family… 😉
Thanks for the responses guys!
I know you aren’t working for an anglican church . . . ! but would be keen to catch up and chew the fat on “joined up youth stuff” in your neck of the woods.
Best wishes,
